There was a time, not that long ago, when everything which was important, everything which was cool and everything which was new in the world of style came from Antwerp. This small Belgian town was the epicentre of now and fashion was spelled Margiela or Demeulemeester. This is also where Inge Grognard and Ronald Stoops comes from.
Inge Grognard is a make up artist whose work has been much appreciated by designers such as Bernard Wilhelm, A.F. Vandevorst, Rick Owens, Martin Margiela, Dirk Bikkembergs and Anne Valérie Hash. Through out her career, she has worked with a photographers such as Nick Knight, Terry Richardson, Corinne Day, Juergen Teller, Jean-Baptiste Mondino and Jean-Paul Goude.
In this book all the photography is done by her real life partner Ronald Stoops, whose work has been seen in magazines like Self Service, i-D, Dazed & Confused, Vogue Homme International and V.
As much as this is a book about beauty it’s also a book about photography. Or it’s actually a book that shows the couples shared vision on beauty and fashion. It’s experimental and playful and it takes us to a time and a place less commercial and less one-dimensional than today.
When flicking through this book, it’s also quite obvious that the Antwerp Six actually where many more than just six…
