The opening of the Steidl exhibition at l’Hôtel de la Monnaie on the south bank of the Seine was full of beautiful celebrities from the universe of photography. Gerhard Steidl, Karl Lagerfeld, François-Marie Banier, Joseph Koudelka and many others were celebrating, drinking Ruinart champagne and eating Fois Gras. And Gerhard Steidl could go happy to bed afterwards – he has probably the most beautiful catalogue of photographic books of today.
