Marc Montméat is a 33 year-old artist, whose work has been supported by Marc Riboud. For over 10 years he has been an insertion and probation counselor in the prison environment. In 2009, while participating in the SFR Jeunes Talents Grand Prix presided by Reza, he became known to the public. During the 2009 Paris Photo salon he sold over forty pictures of his series “Solitudes”. A part of this work will be shown in the Polka Gallery accompanied by his new photographs on New York.

A work based mainly in black and white that brings together a graphic research underlining the idea of solitude both through landscape photography and the urban context. “The link between solitude, individual and society is a subject that has left a mark on me. The city is an ensemble of solitudes that are sometimes brought together. I photograph silhouettes from far, anonyms, the opposite of a portrait.”
