Donata Wenders
Polka Gallery often presents several other works by young photographers, parallely from their main exhibition, which is why this spring during the homage to Marc Riboud, we will be able to discover three different exhibitions. Under the title “Grace and Sensuality,” one part of the work by Donata Wenders will come to light. On the line-up we will also find “Solitudes” by the young photographer Marc Montméat, and “Fletcher Street” by photographer Martha Camarillo.
Donata Wenders’ photographic work being shown in France can be considered almost a first-ever. Besides being the wife of the famous director, Donata is herself a photography director, film director and most of all a photographer. Being a black and white photography enthusiast and devotee, she shoots without restraint, letting herself be guided by the ambience and the quality of the light and shadows, reflecting upon the emotions they project. “Photography has given me the language to express what is inside of me, before I even understand it consciously”. She has photographed numerous actors and actresses, shooting backstage on films like “The million dollar hotel” with Milla Jovovitch, but also strangers or even simple scenes of everyday life. She has devoted an important series to the late great choreographer Pina Bausch, on whom Wim Wenders has also finished a film. The Pina Bausch series will be exposed during the ArtParis Salon that will be held in the Grand Palais from March 31st through April 3rd, 2011.
