Bordeaux: Itineraries of Vagabond Photographers
The Bordeaux Festival Itinéraires des Photographes Voyageurs is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. The event opened its doors on April 1st inviting the public to discover 23 photo exhibitions on the subject of traveling.
Among the approximately twenty exhibitions displayed, you will see Brazil with David Helman, showing portraits of reality: he tells stories of the local people, through their homes, their objects and their everyday landscapes. You’ll then catch the instant emotion with Fred Jourda; the artist opens a window on a face of the world often forgotten: we discover landscapes untouched by humanity. The essential of his work lies in the contemplation of Nature that he transforms infinitely… These photographs will contrast with the urban landscapes by Marc Montméat, shot in New York: the photographer tries to illustrate the idea that man, in a modern society, is an individual free from judgment and from the looks of others, but this is offset by a feeling of loneliness and sometimes inexistence.
Label expositions is a carte blanche given to 9 photographers (Jacob Holdt, Frédéric Delangle, Patrick Messina, Laure Vasconi, Stephan Zaubitzer, Ambroise Tézenas, Jerome Brezillon, Christophe Beauregard and Aglae Bory). This exhibition will bring you on a initiatory journey to the heart of the exploration of a mental landscape.
And in finishing, the festival proposes a return to the sources, featuring the photography of Ella Maillart, one of the most astonishing travelers from the last century. Her exhibition, in 1991, gave birth to the Festival Itinéraires des Photographes Voyageurs.
