The scoop from La Lettre
Exclusively for La Lettre, here are the images of the royal wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton. The struggle was terrible, but we prevailed. And yes, we had in front of us the best: Guillaume Clavières and Marc Brincourt from Paris Match, Suzan White from Vanity Fair, Chris Dougherty from People and Michelle McNally from The New York Times. We are in ruins, but happy. You are the first in the world to witness these images.
The photographer Dan Kitwood has confided in us the full story behind his accomplishment.
“I was born in the UK in 1977 in East Yorkshire. After completing a degree in Fine Art, specialising in Sculpture, at the University of Humberside and Lincolnshire, I spent a year traveling around South East Asia, Australasia and South America, where I developed a passion for photography.
On my return I joined what was the NCTJ course in Sheffield, and on completion was offered a job at South West News in Bristol. After two years of working for the agency in the Plymouth office, I was lucky enough to be offered a position at Getty Images in London.
I continue to work at Getty Images and am currently based in London, where I cover news and features in and around the capital, and beyond.
Legoland often do PR stunts like this in the build up to big events. I was asked to go shoot this as part of our daily news coverage by the Getty Images’ news desk. With the Royal Wedding around the corner these images were very well received!
I went to Legoland in Windsor, where they had created a scene outside a previously made model of Buckingham Palace and took some photos of a series of figures they had positioned outside it."
