The Yann le Mouel Auction House, with the expertise of Vivienne Esders, will be selling 342 photographic lots in room 4 of the Hôtel des Ventes Drouot Richelieu on May 27, at 2pm.
The beginning of this sale (lot n°5) will feature the sale of an album including editions of the daily “Le National” published between January 1st and June 30, 1839. The photographic interest includes a summary of the Science Academy meetings held on January 7 and May 27 telling of the discovery of the daguerréotype. Estimation: 3000-4000€.
For the period including the 30’s, lot 32 stands out for Jaromir Funke’s authentic silver print Composition à la bouteille (1925), 230×291mm, pencil signed and dated on the back. Estimation 20000-30000€.
Lot 42, an Edward Weston print dating from 1935, Étoile de mer, estimated at 12000-18000€.
Lot 52, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Italie 1933, a Léonor Fini nude (448×300mm) dedicated to Jean Leyris. Estimation: 10000-15000€.
Lot 82, a 1938 portrait of Elsa Schiaparelli by Man Ray estimated at 15000-18000€.
Lot 136, Irving Penn, a portrait of Picasso wearing a hat Pablo Picasso à la Californie Cannes, 1957 estimated 5000-7000€.
In this section of the sale are numerous artist’s portraits, and little known portraits by Brassaï (between 2000 et 6000€) and a series of nudes: Rudomine, Lucien Clergue, lot 293 “Nu aux étoiles” estimated 2500-4000€.
Lot 136, a Walker Evans print, “House with Cast Iron Grill Work”, New Orleans, Louisana 1936, estimated 10000-15000 €.
Lot 159 “Autoportrait au ballon” by Shoji Ueda dated 1948 and estimated 10000-15000 €. Finally lot 319, Boris Mikhailov, a color print 1000×1500mm from the series “Case History”, Ukraine, 1999 estimated 8000-10000€.
A series of fashion photos with prints by Guy Bourdin, lot 287, “Beauté”, Vogue France, 1978, estimated 4000-6000€. And lot 283, Helmut Newton “Elsa Peretti, Bunny”, New York 1975, estimated 6000-8000€.
Also noteworthy, "Rolleiflex”, a series of 20 cardboard characters cut and painted by André Villers (800-1500€).
