Portrait of the Artist as a Young Mother is the last book by Katharina Brosse. After six years in New York, the artist returned to live in Germany where she gave birth to two babies in four years. This double change in lifestyle is coupled with a self portrait artistic work. In color large format, the artist is portrayed with her babies to testify the identity change that for a woman constitutes the experience of maternity. Despite any bashfulness, she stages herself simply natural, often naked and, as she states, “letting herself go to do things that only her body could tell.”
