Niépce Museum is also presenting the exhibition “Rebels” by Karlheinz Weinberger (1921 – 2006). It is the result of a collaboration with the Swiss Foundation for photography based in Wintherthur. It is the first time the autodidactic Zuricher photographer is presented in France, after having been rediscovered during the course of the last few years by cinema and fashion industries. He became known in 1958 by his artistic engagement in the “underground” scene, notably by the current of the German youth in rebellion with the prevailing conservatism. “Rebels” brings together a selection of this photographs taken in the 1960s. The photographer continued his research with rockers and the Hell’s Angels. These works have just been published by Rizzoli in the US.
