The 2011 edition of the Rencontres has the generic title Unconformist / Uncertified. It articulates around five branches: Manifestos, Republics, Documents, Viewpoints, Education and associated programs.

In the section entitled Republics, The Mexican Revolution that lasted from 1910 à 1920 is an exhibition featuring original vintage prints. For Miguel Angel Berumen, exhibition curator for the Rencontres d'Arles, the original book "Mexico: fotografia y revolution" (Lunwerg Editores et Fundacion Televisa) required changes.

On one hand, it was necessary to make do with the few original vintage prints remaining. This resulted in a far more in depth and vast exhibition. The original book suffered severe criticism for the visual selection that censored certain scenes, limiting access for over 60 years to a limited point of view. An observation made clear to Miguel Angel Berumen after publishing pictures taken by British photographer Jimmy Hare in Ciudad Juàrez in 1911. "At first, I thought it was due to the notoriously audacious point of view of this great war photographer." However, Miguel Angel Berumen realized over time that his idea of the Revolution had been formed by the limited number of pictures available.
