In memoriam
Guillaume Herbaut : Prix Webdocumentaire 2011
“The zone”, France 24-RFI Prize for “webdoc” (web documentary)
This web-documentary, co-produced by Agat Films and Le Monde was directed by two journalists Bruno Masi and Guillaume Herbaut, a well-known photojournalist at “Visa pour l’image”. The project focuses on Chernobyl and an atypical voyage in a time and space changed forever, in a post nuclear Ukraine.
The jury, presided by Jérôme Delay, responsible for photography in Africa for Associated Press had to decide between 8 productions, taken from a first selection of 64 candidates.
“The decision was unanimous”, he declared through a jury statement where La lettre de la Photographie was present. “A simple presentation, a current affair, a real author’s view that for once does not create enhanced television. Bruno Masi and Guillaume Herbaut lead us through the people of Chernobyl, with respect and tenderness, using the new resource ‘web-documentary” in an intelligent way, stated Jérôme Delay, during the 23rd International festival of Photojournalism, Visa pour l’Image, in Perpignan.
The award ceremony will take place on August 31st, at 9:30pm, and the winners will receive a check for 8,000 euros.
