Andrey Shapran was born in 1968 in Riga, Latvia. He lives and works in Novosibirsk, Russia. For the last 4 years he has worked on a project about native people inhabiting the north-east of Russia – the South Kuril Islands, Kamchatka and Chukchi peninsulas. The materials for Andrey Shapran's work are people's daily life. Made as intersection between fine art and photojournalism Shapran's works won prizes of GEO photocontests, different international competitions, were included in expositions patronized by FIAP. He is a member of the Union of Photoartists of Russia since 2002.
