Farewell Göksin by Abbas
We are all here, your nieces and nephews – and those who couldn’t be present are also paying their homage to you by working. Of course, I am sad, like Phyllis, like all of us, not to see you any more, but I am not crying for you – you had such a beautiful life!
Göksin, you don’t need a pyramid. We are your pyramid, all of the photographers here today, some with graying hair, who worked with you, for some of us since the beginning of our careers. Göksin, you don’t need a pyramid because you will always be in our hearts.
Some of my friends know that for more than 30 years, the essence of my work has been focused on God, Yahvé, Allah, Iamanja, Buddha, Shiva and so many others, which now gives me a direct line with… (looks up to the sky).
The other day, I received a message from … (looks up to the sky again) “There is a very tall Turkish man who has been hiding out here for the past week trying to take my first picture, and since his hair is also white, he is trying to recruit all of his former photographers that were here before him, to get a scoop.”
Göksin, ruhet shad !
In farsi, Let there be joy in your soul!...
