Göksin. Just saying his name, I’m overhwhelmed by a surge memories and anecdotes. It’s difficult to choose among all these stories that meant so much in our lives...Let’s begin with his allure. He was tall, slender, majestic in his red scarf. At 6’3”, he inspired respect immediately. He had an elegant, silent stride...He had eagle eyes. Nothing got by him. Just one look and he would know if we were sad, happy... He was always the first person to notice that someone was pregnant... He liked nothing more than the love stories that heated up and fizzled out at the agency. Then there was his letter-opener: shiny silver, sharp as the man himself. You rarely saw him without it clasped in his large hands. He would use it to conduct us in and out of his office. No matter where we had come from, with what baggage...We owe him so much, so many memories between laughter and tears. He ran SIPA like a patriarch... And we are proud to have been his family. The SIPA family lives on, and just as Göksin liked to say, “It’s wonderful!”
