I got started in photography when I won a Kodak Instamatic on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City, New Jersey. It came with a roll of 126 black and white film. I took some snapshots of my friends, sent it out to be printed and was amazed that all the pictures came out. That got me started and the next thing I know I borrow my fathers rangefinder 35 mm camera and learned how to use it. I then went to the School of Visual Arts and I have been a photographer ever since. My age is 64, American and live in San Francisco. These images are from a series I have been working on for more than six years called "In Character". I set up a studio in the basement of the San Francisco Opera and would invite the wonderful talent to come down for a portrait. These images are from just one opera called La Forza Del Destino by Giuseppe Verdi.
