Press Review
Paul Melcher’s selection
Talent, they say, is something that comes with age. Sometimes talent likes to play a trick on us and disregard our rules. It emerges out of seemingly nowhere.
18 year old Australian born photographer Nirrimi Hakanson is one of these “natural’ photographer that has not waited for age to mature.
While her photography is exquisite, full of the freshness of life, her website is so tremendously reflective of her passion for her photography, it is like opening a personal diary. At such a young age, Narrimi has already shot for Diesel ( smart of them) , has travelled to countless places in the world, has the most lovely friends/models, and can handle light as well, if not better, than any seasoned pro.
Usually, at that age, we say they have promise. She has pasts the promises and is well on her way to becoming one of the most influential photographer of her generation. She starts where others have ended. There is such a sweet intimacy in her photographs that even her professional work looks like she is photographing friends having fun. Her lenses to be harsh and gentle while her style keeps on making subtle references to masters without ever copying them.
Finally, there are tons and tons of passion in these images, an unlimited passion for photography that she manages to share with the unsuspecting viewer.
