Led by its consultant Agnès de Gouvion Saint-Cyr, the Société de Ventes Volontaires Piasa is holding an auction of vintage, modern and contemporary photographs from the origins to today. It will take place Friday, October 28 at 2pm in Room 6 of the Drouot Richelieu auction house.

In the historical section, we can highlight the presence of several albums and of the legendary picture of Paul Marsan know as Dornac "Paul Verlaine at the François 1er café" taken in Paris on May 28, 1892. A vintage print, lot 17 estimated 15000 / 20000€.

In the modern department, outstanding lots include prints by Henri Cartier-Bresson, Mario Giacomelli, Sabine Weiss and Lucien Clergue.
For Cartier-Bresson, we can mention lots 66 and 92, "Island of the City" 1951 and "Brie" 1968, two prints posterior to the 1980’s estimated at € 5000 / 7000.

For Sabine Weiss, a vintage print of "Man lighting a cigarette" Paris 1951-52, the only known print from the artist's studio. Lot 67 estimated € 4000 / 5000.

It should be added that lot 113 'Ireland 1972 by Josef Koudelka, a 1982 print, signed, dated and inscribed on the back is estimated € 4000 / 6000.

Two Peter Beards, a polaroid of 1965 "Ode to the Peace Corpse", lot 100 estimated € 4500 / 6000 and a silver print signed and dated 1984, lot 150 estimated € 3500 / 5000.

"Portrait of a Lady", Mali from 1952 -1955, a print signed and numbered 1 / 8 of Seydou Keita, Lot 112 estimated € 3000 / 4000.

And the catalog cover, a 1960 picture by Julius Shulman, 1960, lot 106 estimated € 3000 / 4000.

For the contemporary section, it is worth mentioning Shadi Ghadirian’s Nil in 2008, lot 207 estimated € 5000 / 5500. Or Liu Bolin’s print, signed and numbered 2 / 8, lot 216 estimated € 4000 / 5000
