What place does work occupy in the life of an individual? How is it experienced?

Francois-Xavier Seren, photographer and reporter for more than thirty years, attempts to answer these questions in an original way. His humanistic portraits in black-and-white represent all social classes: the aristocratic and the bourgeois, white-collar and blue-collar, unemployed and retired.

The men and women who accepted to sit for the photographer were asked three questions: What does work mean for you? Did you choose your current job? How much time do you devote to it?

From their testimonies emerge shared links, roots, allegiances and cultural identities.

In 1980, François-Xavier Seren began his career as a photographer. His black-and-white both explore and immortalize subjects from all social backgrounds.
