Emeric Lhuisset is a professor of photography at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po Paris), and professor of visual arts at the Virginia Governor’s School (Virginia Commonwealth University, USA). He will be leading a conference co-sponsored by Sciences Po and New York University on the theme “Contemporary Art and Geopolitics”. As a photographer, Lhuisset’s work resembles that of an investigative journalist, having documented the Colombia FARC in 2006. His recent series show Kurdish combatants in their element. Lhuisset lived for several months in one of their training camps on the Iran-Iraq border.
