Presided over by Princess Stéphanie of Monaco, the 2011 Fight Aids
Monaco Auction that took place on Thursday, December 1 at the Méridien Beach Plaza, collected 462000 €.
During this sale, Lucien Clergue’s triptych "Femme aux dentelles"
auctioned off for 36000 euros ($50000). The triptych was purchased by Prince Albert of Monaco.
This is a new record for a photo by Lucien Clergue. The previous
record was for a collage selling for 10000€ at a Christie’s auction on
June 18, 2008.
Outside of Benatov’s bust of Princess Stéphanie selling for 60000 €
and one sketched by Robert Redford (22000 €), buying mostly focused on photographs. A Helmut Newton portrait of Cindy Crawford taken in the lobby of the hôtel de Paris went for 27000 €. 13000 € for a 1995 photograph by Edward Quinn immortalizing the first handshake between Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier. 13000 € for a photograph of Prince Albert II by Frédéric Nebinger.
