Laurence Miller Gallery, opened the show Burned, photographs by Burk Uzzle Thursday evening 1/12/2012. The newest project of Uzzle’s, a professional photographer for 57 years, began when he drove by a burned out, closed convenience store, about an hour from his home and studio in Wilson, North Carolina. Uzzle, who has been working with an 8x10 camera with color film for the last few years, stopped and made a first image of the exterior. When he was able to get inside he found a large group of singed, charred and burned objects. After photographing them in place he brought them back to his studio and began to make pictures of the individual objects. The show consists of twelve striking images in sizes ranging from 60x75 to 16x20.
