On Thursday, February 23, Edwynn Houk Gallery opened a show of Portraits of long time friends Jonas Mekas and Robert Polidori. Mekas, while known as a film-maker, produces what he calls "frozen film frames" from his work that are revealing portraits in their own, unique way. Polidori is known for his wonderful photographs of architecture and habitats, and here he exhibits portraits that he makes as he works on his other projects. The portraits, mostly from the Middle East and India, have a warmth, and you can feel personal connection between subject and photographer that extends to you, the viewer.
