There are many things to love about Develop tube. For one, it reconciles the two, sometimes antagonist, visual media, photos and videos. Created by New York based photographer, Erica Mcdonald about two years ago, Develop tube, available on both Vimeo and Youtube regroups the best and most compelling videos about photography available online. It is not just multimedia and slideshows, but also interviews, tips and information. For those passionate about photography, it is an almost endless resource of extremely valuable videos, from behind the scenes to photography related movie trailers and everything in between. Erica McDonald , who has been a teacher, founded Develop Tube to provide resources for the enrichment of the photojournalism, fine art and documentary photography community. She realized that most photographers might not have access to the resources that she had and thus wanted to level the playing field. She is preparing a full site, Develop Photo, which will carry the videos and much more.

“I see people around the world who maybe don’t have the same foundation or connections or even opportunities or time or whatever it is, to know what’s what, what grants are available or where they could show their work,” she says. “I felt like I could do something to contribute to our community this way.” she recently told TIME.com.

For now, Erica is working alone on this project and has not decided yet if it's going to be a commercial site, where users will have to pay, or if it will be a non profit. For the moment, she is in between. While we wait for the website to be launched, we can savor the immense library that she has put together.
