Jonas Cuénin, one of our New York contributors, has a passion for Irving Penn, and in particular one of the photographer’s most famous series: Small Trades. Jonas’ web series, “Of Pictures and Men” (Des images et des hommes) is a tribute to Penn’s work. It focuses on all those in the world of photography who never have the chance to be in the spotlight. Every two weeks, his videos will offer a look into the lives of these photography lovers.
For the fifth episode, Daniel Gorman, an American veteran who served in Iraq, shows through his involvement with photojournalism that war photography is not only iconic but also humanist. Having recently enrolled at the International Center of Photography of New York, Gorman brings the combat experience in his classes.
