To promote photography. At the initiative of Marc Ladreit de Lacharrière the photography section of the Académie des Beaux-Arts created in 2007 a photography prize bearing his name. The 15000€ prize is open to established photographers of any age working in France. Photographers must submit an original project to be produced in the following year, to be exhibited at the Palais de l'Institut de France.
The timetable for the 2012 sixth edition of the prize is as follows: 
April 2012: The competition opens. Regulations and registration forms can be downloaded from the Académie’s site or at www.fimalac.com 
June 29, 2012: Application deadline. Applications must be sent by registered mail to the Academie secretary and marked “Prix de Photographie” 
October 30, 2012: The winner is announced on the opening night of the exhibition of the 2011 winner. 
November 21, 2012: Awards ceremony. 
November 2013: Exhibition of the 2012 winner’s project.
