ICP's Infinity Awards 2012
The 28th annual Infinity Awards of the International Center of Photography were held last night in New York. This year, ten winners were honored, including two Asian photographers known for their political art, Daidō Moriyama and Ai Weiwei, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award and the Cornell Capa Award, respectively. Since 1985, the annual ICP Infinity Awards have recognized major contributions and emerging talent in the fields of photojournalism, art, fashion photography, publishing, and writing. Taking pride in its documentary tradition, it is fitting to see ICP finally acknowledge the war photography of Benjamin Lowy. In the field of contemporary photography, Anouk Kruithof was awarded the Young Photographer prize. The recent work of Stan Douglas was also honored.
"Each year ICP acknowledges the work of those whose powerful images and words excite, engage, and enliven us." said Willis E. Hartshorn, the soon-to-be former director of ICP.
