Heinz Cibulka : « Gemischte Sätze » « Bildgedichte / Picture poems »
The work of Heinz Cibulka, despite its great diversity of shapes, is influenced by his artistic background: the Viennese activism of the 1960’s ti which he participated taking pictures of performances by Hermann Nitsch and Rudolf Schwarzkogler. The religious reference, particularly that of the Holy Communion, sacrifice, blood, was preponderant. His photographic work aimed at creating associations of images borrowed from the documentary repertory of his own pictures. Taken at first in the rural area were he lived, they evoked life in the Austrian countryside, nature, the seasons, social and family life in a society marked by Austrian Catholicism and by the spirit and aesthetic of central European baroque.
