Piasa auction house will hold an auction of 19th century, modern and contemporary photographs on Friday May 25, 2012, in Salle 1 of the Hôtel Drouot Richelieu at 14h.
Two hundred and seventy-nine lots will be up for sale, beginning with 19th century photography, with prints by Pierre Petit, like a portrait of Richard Wagner from 1861 (Lot 10, est. 2000–3000€) and Claude-Joseph Le Désiré Charnay's “Les chutes du Niagara” (Lot 18, est. 2000–3000€).
From Louise Laffon and Alexis Godillot, “Album photographique des uniformes de l’armée française", Paris, printed in Laprunière, 1866, which gather 66 vintage prints on albumin paper with watercolor (Lot 22, est. 12,000–15,000€). A copy of this album is held in the collections of the Bibliothèque Nationale de France.
A portrait of a man by Louis Adolphe Humbert de Molard, a daguerreotype dated 1849-50 (Lot 24, est. 12,000–15,000€. Lot 26 is another portrait by the same photographer, est. 18,000–25,000€.
An 1860 print by Eugène Cuvelier, "Arbres dans la forêt de Fontainebleau" (Lot 40, est. 12,000–15,000€).
