Piasa auction house will hold an auction of 19th century, modern and contemporary photographs on Friday May 25, 2012, in Salle 1 of the Hôtel Drouot Richelieu at 14h.
Two hundred and seventy-nine lots will be up for sale, beginning with 19th century photography, with prints by Pierre Petit, like a portrait of Richard Wagner from 1861 (Lot 10, est. 2000–3000€) and Claude-Joseph Le Désiré Charnay's “Les chutes du Niagara” (Lot 18, est. 2000–3000€).
From Louise Laffon and Alexis Godillot, “Album photographique des uniformes de l’armée française", Paris, printed in Laprunière, 1866, which gather 66 vintage prints on albumin paper with watercolor (Lot 22, est. 12,000–15,000€). A copy of this album is held in the collections of the Bibliothèque Nationale de France.
A portrait of a man by Louis Adolphe Humbert de Molard, a daguerreotype dated 1849-50 (Lot 24, est. 12,000–15,000€. Lot 26 is another portrait by the same photographer, est. 18,000–25,000€.
An 1860 print by Eugène Cuvelier, "Arbres dans la forêt de Fontainebleau" (Lot 40, est. 12,000–15,000€).
Items from the modern period include “Métal”, Germaine Krull's album from 1927, with 64 numbered photogravure images marked "Krull, Métal. A. Calavas Paris" (Lot 82, est. 10,000–15,000€).
Robert Doisneau, "La concierge aux lunettes," 1945, gelatin silver print from the 1980s (Lot 110, est. 2,000–3,000€).

A Brassaï portrait of Jean Genet from the early 1950s, printed in the 1970s (Lot 134, est. 5,000–6,000€).
From Guy Bourdin, an untitled nude, Normandy c. 1953–1957, vintage gelatin silver print (Lot 151, est. 5,000–6,000€).
Several Henri Cartier-Bresson prints, including "Cachot d'une prison modèle", Leesbury, New Jersey, 1975, print from 1981 (Lot 189, est. 4,000–6,000€).
Two Peter Beard prints, including “Iman at Hoggers, Kenya” 1984-1985, vintage polaroid with color ink. Unique. Signed and dated in ink lower left corner (Lot 223, est. 8,000–10,000€).
Two Denis Rouvre prints, including “Jean Bouilhou” from November 2008.
Silver print on Fuji “Crystal Archive” paper laminated and framed. Unique in this format. Signed on the back. 120 x 120 cm (Lot 278, est. 3,000–4,000€).
