After shooting portraits for more then 30 years I started to reflect on the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s with a smile.
It occurred to me that I had a small treasure of art and fashion portraits that are the background of the creativity and lifestyle of this exciting time.
The atmosphere of New York City with its select bars, restaurants and nightclubs such as Studio 54, Nels, the Mud Club, Le Club, Save the robots, 1/5 Avenue, Indochine, Odeon etc… was a hub of creative energy that had not been seen since the 1920’s and 30’s in Paris.
Art movements such as graffiti, neo expressionism, conceptualism, the Triple C’s, Clemente, Chia and Cucci which brings us to the superstars art dealers, Leo Castelli, Mary Boom, Irving Blum, Tony Shafrazi, Holly Salomon…
Fashion illustrators such as Antonio Lopez, photographers like Robert Mappelthorpe, Marcus Leatherdale, Cindy Sherman and fashion photographers Bill King, Stan Schaffer, Art Kane, Bill Silvano, Helmut Newton and many more.
Fashion designers Betsey Johnson, Stephen Sprouse, Patricia Fields, Halston. Michael Kors, Fiorucci, Carolina Herrera, Calvin Klein and the beat goes on.
I have chosen – from my archives- over 100 photographs that represent this historical time.
My book will also include personal letters and testimonials written by various personalities that reflect this period.
