While Francine Lévy officially announced the ENS Louis-Lumière’s move to the Cité du Cinéma in Saint Denis, her 5-year contract renewal, the creation of an «égalité des chances» class in partnership with the eponymous Foundation, and the creation of a new branch, the students of the 2012 graduating class in photography are presenting an original year-end group exhibition on June 14 and 15 at their current Noisy-le-Grand location. Works by 17 students are featured, including installations, a gifautomat’, webdocs, books and large format prints. Among them, Tristan Happel’s unusual treatment of black and white development, known as “stand development”, using extremely high dilutions and long chemical baths: Nyima Marin followed the American dream along Route 66, from New York to Los Angeles, producing a cross-media documentary presented as a webdocumentare, a book and a fanzine. Romain Champalaune explored the underground music scene in Iran where musicians must hide to play Rock, Metal, and rap while Nadège Abadi explored the unknown daily lives of building concierges featuring sound bytes of the concierges by Claire Bernengo. Enrico Floriddia questions the temporality of matter with an destructible installation featuring photos of the scaffolding surrounding Parisian monuments under renovation, whereas Martyna Pawlak and her brother, webdesigner Wojciech Pawlak, present “Following me”, a series of portraits of twitters and their digital identities. Claire Sousbie took a historical walk through Paris with her digital tablet, creating enhanced pictures of historic points of view. Finally, Guillaume Thiriet offers “Rien”, a black and white project devoid of captions and featured in a book printed in Madrid and sold by 29 and Yvon Lambert.
