Signed prints of Sam Haskins
Sam Haskins liberated nude photography from cliché with his ground breaking trilogy of books “Five Girls” (1962), “Cowboy Kate” (1964) and “November Girl” (1967). With “Cowboy Kate” Sam pioneered the first use of narrative in a purely photo book and the first creative use of manipulated grain. Haskins left a resonant creative signature which is highly referenced by contemporary photographers. His combination of natural sensuality, graphic thinking, light hearted fun and pure photographic genius remains a touch stone essence sought by everyone from pop divas to art directors.
Haskins also worked as a fashion photographer for magazines including Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Allure and New York Magazine. His final photographic book “Fashion Etcetera” (2009), a cross-section of photos from his archives, was published with a special edition sponsored by Tommy Hilfiger in 2009 just before the photographer passed away.
V&M offer signed prints of the signature works of the late Sam Haskins (1926-2009), the celebrated South African photographer. The collection will launch online on Tuesday, June 12th. Prices begin at $1,350.
