From June 21 to August 25, 2012, the Observatoire du BHV in Paris will host the exhibition Matières et Sentiments by Vincent Perez. Better known to French audiences as an actor and film director, this exhibition will allow audiences to discover his photographic works. Perez presents his own vision of Paris with his friend Auguste Chantrel as his guide. This student of architecture taught Perez to look beyond the the city’s sublime Haussmannian vistas to appreciate its ‘urban teratology’.
“To capture the ephemeral and the immutable, the now and the then, the movement and the stone—on the streets of Paris, there is time that passes and time that remains.”
For the occasion, the Observatoire du BHV has been transformed into a gigantic eye. The images appear like fragments of memory.
