Paul Melcher' Selection: Moment Agency
There is a saying that says that the best photographs are in your backyard. Moment Agency, presented recently in La Lettre's “7 days of agencies”, likes this saying. For it's 10 th year of existence, tired and wary of traveling the world in search of new photographic adventure, the 11 scandinavian photographers of Moment have decided to do thing differently. They will all come home and photograph their backyard. Well, not literally. All of them will travel in their countries of origin and photograph a story there. Not at any time. They will all do this at the same time, during the longest days of the year, in mid summer. They will travel by train all around Scandinavia , from its' outmost polar region to the southern tip of Denmark in search of today's identity. While they would love to take us on their trip, it would just not be practical. So, in exchange, they found a different way to make us participate. Thanks to the crowd sourcing site emphas.is, you can now donate anywhere from $10 to $3,000 to help them achieve their goal. They need a grand total of $13,617 to pay for their trips ( a bit more than a thousand dollars per photographer) and would love for you to help out. You will get, depending on how much you donate, either an access to the making-of-zone ( for $10.00) or a one–to four day workshop ( for $3,000), or anything in between, like The signed book Scandinavian Moments or A day of editing the work with us . The full list is on the site. Regardless of the physical reward you get, it is in knowing that you help a young generation of bright photographers fulfill their wish that you will find the biggest recompense. Think about it, you might be helping the next Henri Cartier-Bresson. So take out your wallets, head on to the site and donate what you can. Think of it as a birthday present to them.
