The Grant, supported by Canon France, with 8 000,00 euros is presented to a professional photographer of any age, sex or nationality who wishes to cover a social, economic, political or cultural issue in a journalistic manner. The Award is given in order to allow the winner to produce a story that has never been told but that the photographer cannot find support for within the media.
The jury made of Jean-François Camp from Central Dupon, Cyril Drouhet from Figaro Magazine, Gary Knight from Agency VII, Delphine Lelu from Visa pour l’Image, and Pascal Maitre photographer represented by Cosmos, has unanimously elected the polish photographer Maciek Nabrdalik for a project on “Economic Migrations”.
Maciek plans to go over 3 countries in Europe to cover the new migrations due to the consequences of the world economic crises. The prize will officially be given to him at the Photo Festival Visa pour l’Image in Perpignan in September 2012 and he will have a year to realize his story, planned in black and white. The story completed will eventually be shown at Visa Pour l’Image in Perpignan in September 2013, and exhibited at the CosmosGalery with a book sponsored by Central Dupon laboratory.
Maciek Nabrdalik, after graduating at Warsaw University of Technology, decided to become a professional photographer in 2001 and started working with local U.S. newspapers. In 2003 he was hired by a major Polish daily and entered VII Photo Agency as a member in 2011.
Several major awards in Poland and in the United States have honoured his work and his pictures have been exhibited in several countries, among which Germany Czechoslovakia and U.S.A.
