Tribute to Martine Franck: Inge Bondi
I admire greatly not only her pictures with that slow moving elegant composition, which was I believe uniquely hers. Also, of course, even at a distance, I know she was a great mainstay of the Paris Office. And of course, I doubt there would ever have been a Fondation without Martine.
I know Martine from looking at the photographs she took of Henri. Before he met Martine, he just never looked happy, and when he was in New York, he could flare up very easily. But after Martine appeared on the scene, I used to hear from Ernst Haas how happy and excited Henri was and also what an effort it was to get her to agree to marry him.
Magnum was very lucky to have had Martine.
