Everyone has an opinion of the panoramic image, a symbol of modernity but also of a ‘fantastic necessity’ that photography today seems to have accepted. In panorama, lines are replaced by curves, bodies are deformed and objects stand out. And yet, using the German camera Noblex, Paolo Pellizzari will no doubt have noticed the amount of detail that can be captured in 135 degrees. And that’s the interest in his images taken during various sporting events, from the Tour de France to the US Open, from the Winter Olympic Games to the Enduro du Touquet. But this photojournalist also takes his camera to the beach, into foggy countrysides and the poor suburbs of large cities. A special mention goes to his photograph of fishmongers in Odessa, Ukraine, where Pellizzari seems almost to disturb the last resting place of the fish.
