The Visa d’Or in the Daily Press category was awarded on Wednesday, September 5, 2012, to Tomas Munita for his photographs of Syria for The New York Times. For the first time in its history, the prize came with an 8000€ prize sponsored by the Agglomération Perpignan Méditerranée.

Every year since 1990, the Visa d’Or for in this category has honored the best pictures to appear in daily publications of the international press.
