Under the expertise of Viviane Esders, the auction company Yann le Mouel will organize a sale of modern and contemporary photographs. The auction will be held Friday, November 9, 2012, at 14h in Salle 4 of the Hôtel Drouot.

At the beginning of the sale, we find four prints by Eugène Atget, including a rare nude from the 1921 series Paris Pittoresque III (Est. 3–4,000€, lots 10, 12 and 14).

Also from 1921, a fine print of a photograph of the sculpture “Léda,” taken by Constantin Brancusi (est. 15–20,000€).

Man Ray’s book, Résurrection des mannequins, featuring mannequins made by Salvador Dali, Oscar Dominguez, Marcel Duchamp, Max Ernst, André Masson, Joan Miro and others for the 1938 International Surrealist Exhibition in Paris at the Beaux-Arts. It consists of 15 prints from 1966 (est. 8–10,000€).

Several prints by Aaron Siskind (est. 2-3,000€), an icon of O. Winston Link (1957, est. 5–7,000€), a stamped 1960s print of Henri Cartier-Bresson’s “Alicante” (est. 8–12,000€)

From Robert Doisneau, a hand-signed 1985 print of “Le baiser de l'Hôtel de ville” (1950, est. 7–9,000€).

From the 1930s to the 1960s there are works from: Edouard Boubat, Marcel Bovis, Pierre Boucher, Jean- Philippe Charbonnier, Lucien Clergue, Denise Colomb, Gabriel Cuallado, Martine Franck, Gisèle Freund, Mario Giacomelli, André Kertész, Germaine Krull, Sergio Larrain, Pierre Molinier, Jean Moral, Janine Niepce, Jean Painlevé, René-Jacques, Marc Riboud, Willy Ronis, Albert Rudomine, Osvaldo alas, Roger Schall, André Steiner, Sabine Weiss, Lionel Wendt, Paul Wolff.

In addition to notable items from Irving Penn and Richard Avedon, American photography is represented by prints of Harry Callahan, Berenice Abbott, Eve Arnold, Andre de Dienes, David Douglas Duncan, Harold E. Edgerton, Alfred Eisenstaedt, Elliott Erwitt, Louis Faurer, Andreas Feininger, Philippe Halsman, Horst P. Horst, George Platt Lynes, Edward Quinn, Aaron Siskind, Weegee, O. Winston Link.

From Irving Penn, a 1957 portrait of Yves Saint-Laurent, "The Wrestler", "The Angel with Professional model Dorian Leigh" (1945), "Chef sommelier " (1950), "Un Poulbot (Georges Picot)" (1951), "Circus Side-show People" ca. 1950. Est. 6,000 and 15,000 €.

From Richard Avedon,"Renée, the New Look of Dior, Place de la Concorde" (1947), printed for the 1978 Avedon retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art (est. 15-20 000 €), and a hand-signed copy of Richard Avedon: Portraits, produced with the MoMA in 2002, accompanied by a silver print of Andy Warhol (est. 10–15,000€).

Finally, from Albert Watson, a hand-signed and numbered enigmatic portrait of Lisa Kaufman smoking outside a Parisian café overlooking the Arc de Triomphe (1986, est. 10–15,000€).

The cover of the catalogue is Sandy Skoglund ’s “The Wedding” (1994, est. 10–15,000€).

Lewis Baltz’s “La valise” (1993), a portfolio box set with 12 original works, signed and numbered, with a preface by the critic Bernard Lamarche-Vadel (est. 8–10,000€).

An unreleased album from 1972 collects 53 vintage black-and-white David Hamilton prints, assembled by an amateur fan of eroticism (est. 8–12,000€).
