Exhibition
Le Centre Iris :
Happy Birthday !
Founded in October 1992, the Centre Iris in Paris not only trains photographers. It has also organized several exhibitions and events related to the image, like those held in Cannes in 1993 and 1994, and has helped to promote new talent while cultivating a new audience for photography.
To mark this anniversary, Pierre Gassin, the director, has put together with his team the exhibition 20 ans, beaucoup, passionnément, a gathering of four senior professors from the Centre Iris, who will each present a series by a graduate of the center.
Sabrina Biancuzzi has chosen to present the series My white desert by the Spanish photographer Zaida Kersten.
Richard Caillot, involved with the Centre since its beginning, selected the anthropological series Inventaire #3 by David Rase, who trained at the center in 2007.
William Marcelli, who attended the center in 2001 and became a lab director in 2003, has chosen the self-portrait series Casi by the Venezuelan photographer Ibelise Paiva.
Finally, center graduate Gilles Picarel will present the series mai...décembre by the former editor-in-chief Bénédite Topuz.
After 20 years in France, the Centre Iris will soon export its knowledge to Tunisia for the opening of the Centre Photographique du Maghreb. Another cultural center will open soon in the Tunisian city of Sfax, and will offer training for museum curators, directors of cultural centers, and art lovers.
