Prix Picto 2012 :
In 2004, the then-16-year old Anaïs Kugel, aka Julie Cerise, traveled from France to the United States and there discovered that photography took a growing place in her life. Creating portraits of herself and acquaintances, she built a visual world that mixes her dreams with memories of clowns, theaters, and her father’s paintings.
In 2007, after launching her professional photo career by photographing French designer’s collections, Julie Cerise was chosen to photograph Scotland’s “This is not an invitation to rape me” campaign by art director Charles Hall.
Working for magazines and the fashion industry, her work continues today. Her photographs have been exhibited at the Carte Blanche gallery (San Francisco), and her series The Wellington Boots was featured in the Manifesto festival.
