Bulang Mountain and Its people, Li Jun Wei
The jury only awarded a consolation prize to this work of reportage, but I had voted for it to win third prize. I like the sepia tones used to show children on the Burmese border, as the rest of the country develops around them. These people of the Bulang Mountains were photographed by a “local,” which only increases their interest.
The Bulang mountains are near the border of Burma and China. The great landscape attracts many photographers, like the Chinese photographer, Li Junwei, who visits here from time to time. He said he enjoys the life in Bulang mountains. It is like a wonderland, the people are pure and friendly to him.
Li started his project to take portraits not of the great views and landscapes, but of the local people. He wishes to document and remember all these faces and their lives.
Li Junwei, is a yunnan photographer association member and Xishuangbanna photographer association member. Solo exhibitions in Pingyao Festival, DIPE photo festival, and Lishui international photo festival.
