Yesterday in Phnom Penh, His Excellency Khieu Khanarith, Minister of Information, oversaw the first tribute to the French photographer Gilles Caron in the country where he disappeared in April, 1970. A plaque with the final portrait taken of Caron, standing on a boat crossing the Mekong, will be displayed on a monument near the Ministry of Information. The monument will honor all of the journalists and photographers who were killed or went missing during the civil war and the ruling of the country by the Khmer Rouge.
