The Musée Bourdelle is one of the most underrated museums in Paris. Until February 8, 2013, visitors will have all the more reason to discover its treasures, with the exhibition Dans l’atelier du photographe : la photographie mise en scène, as part of the city’s Month of Photography. As with every exhibition curated by Anne Cartier-Bresson, the photographs are placed in an art-historical context, which explains to the viewer both how and why the work was created. Her previous exhibitions include l'Éloge du négatif, les débuts de la photographie sur papier en Italie - 1846-1862 at the Petit Palais in 2010, and L'objet photographique, une invention permanente at the Maison Européenne de la Photographie, which is now the subject of a book published by Actes Sud, in the Collection Photo Poche.

The current exhibition aims to bring together the histories of photography and its processes. This is achieved through the presentation of high-quality images, and a look behind the scenes to show how they were created. This is what Anne Cartier-Bresson refers to in the catalogue, published jointly with the Paris Musées, as “the photographic kitchen.”
