The photo series Performers portraits the unusual characters who acts in performance art.

Performance art has grown out of the mainstream artistic expressions, with a small public and often with quite a difficult use of language. The conditions of direct interaction with the audience and the reduced time and space make of performance art a "non reproducible“ experience that, in our globalized and commercialized world, keeps a very fresh and authentic artistic expression. From
this "non mediated expression“ emerges an immense fascination that creates a strong relation between spectator and artist. The artist is the medium and himself and his body are the tools to produce art. The resulting experiences are normally extremely intense and penetrating they open a deep reflection on reality.

My photo series is trying to keep a trace of this ephemeral practice, avoiding to be a documentary work on performance art works. I am aiming to reveal the authenticity of the persons, to find behind their poses and their eyes their strong need to communicate.
