Following the series Sleeping Elevation (2010), Maia Flore now offers viewers another photographic tale, Situations, in which, “a young girl in red travels across seemingly unexplored landscapes. She sets off in search of fleeting encounters with nature and an indescribable feeling of liberty. She’s caught by the sun, and sinks into the fog. As if rediscovering space, she walks on clouds that touch ground and evaporate into the landscape the moment the sun returns to chase away the mystery. Like a game played somewhere between reality and the imagination, between clairvoyance and temporary insanity, the young girl delights in the confusion of feelings.”
Maira Flore (b. 1988) joined the Agence VU’ in 2010. She presented her first series, Sleep Elevations, at the festival Circulation(s) de la Jeune Photographie Européenne in Paris in 2011, and again during the Rencontres d’Arles in the Magasin de Jouets gallery. She likes to identify the coincidences between the real and the imaginary, a world created from scratch where she plays at staging her photographs.
