Whether is was Saint Catherine’s Day, dining on the riverboat “Délices,” chartered for the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes Art-Deco, or for a simple children’s snack: every occasion was a reason to celebrate at fashion designer Paul Poiret’s house. His employees, friends and family all took part in the festivities. In the 1920s, his friend Boris Lipnitzki documented the private parties of this lavish Renaissance man. “You’re my photographer,” he told Lipnitzki, “and I don’t want another one!”
