Alma: World Press Multimedia 2013
Guatemala Ciudad. Alma a intégré un gang à l'âge de 14 ans. A 22 ans, elle a annoncé à ses "homies" sa décision de le quitter définitivement. Par mesure de représailles, le jour même, deux jeunes membres de sa clique ont tenté de l'assassiner. Elle a survécu à ses blessures, mais est aujourd’hui paraplégique. Depuis, Alma et son compagnon ont fuit et se cachent dans un autre quartier. © Miquel Dewever-Plana
A documentary by the photographer Miquel Dewever-Plana and Isabelle Fougère, produced by Arte, Upian and the Agence VU, was given the first prize at World Press Photo Multimedia Contest in the category Interactive Documentary, for their striking portrait of the young Alma.
This was the third year of the World Press Photo Multimedia Contest, which has three separate categories: Online Short, Online Feature and Interactive Documentary.
Pep Bonet, from the collective Noor, was awarded first prize in the Online Short category for The Shadows, a documentary on immigration in South Africa.
Jessica Dimmock and Stephanie Sinclair from VII Photo won the Online Feature category with Too Young to Wed, a documentary about Ethiopia.
