Freeland and Love Wild Life foundations, with the support of Canon, have organized a photography information to take action against consuming shark fins. It’s a group show with installation, video and photos, included World Press Photo-awarded photographer Paul Hilton.

“Up to 73 million sharks are killed each year to meet the demand for shark fin soup. Global shark populations are in catastrophic decline. All works exhibited aim to expose the truth behind shark fin soup and shake consumers out of complacency by highlighting the lives of sharks and the impacts of consumption, including on human health. Produced with support from Canon Marketing (Thailand) and contributing artists, this exhibition coincides with Fin Free Thailand, a new nation-wide campaign initiated with support from United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to reduce the sale and consumption of shark fin”.

“Shake Fin” by Hong-Kong based photographer Paul Hilton won a World Press Photo in 2012 (3rd prize stories, Nature) and it was made at the Dong Gang fish market in Taiwan. He hopes pictures like these can make a difference to save remarkable species like sharks. 

The underwater photos by Jirayu Ekkul were taken in Thailand and they show how breathtaking it is to encounter a shark in its natural environment. 

The exhibition – showed on two floors of WTF Gallery – continues with an infographic video by Sipakorn Kungsapichart and an “Anonymous” installation.
