The photographs of Sam Shaw have long appeared on the covers of Life and Look. He photographed the Hollywood stars of the 1950s and 60s: Ingrid Bergman, Elizabeth Taylor, Sophia Loren, Audrey Hepburn, Marlon Brando, John Cassavetes, Anthony Quinn, Woody Allen. With his spontaneous shots taken on the fly, Shaw invites the viewer behind the scenes of moviemaking.
This issue features: a profile of Ed Ou, winner of the Young Photo Reporter Prize at the 2012 Prix Bayeux - Calvados for war correspondents; a report on Baudouin Mouanda, an emerging figure in African photography; and a close look at a photograph by Laurent Van der Stockt, accompanied by a text by the journalist Jean-Philippe Rémy while he was reporting from Aleppo, Syria.
